Yesterday I got my 9 month update from my hosting service, which was kind of ironic because lately I have been considering the state of Simply Family Savings. I have been at Simply Family Savings.com for 9 months, and before that simplyfamilysavings.wordpress.com one year, that one year and 9 months of coupon/deal blogging (if you exclude summer months) has been fun, and challenging . I have learned a lot about myself, I have also got to know many readers and bloggers, and it has been wonderful to be part of this community of people who want to save when they can, to help provide the best for their families, I love that!
I have got to be honest, couponing is now just part of my daily routine something I do often, like shaving my legs brushing my teeth. I don’t feel the need to share long detailed information about my shopping trips. Thinking about putting together and maintaining a full set of match ups mentally drains me. Couponing is undeniably woven right into the fabric of my being, but it there is no hiding the fact it can not be counted among the things in my life I am passionate about. I am moving away from a strictly coupon/deal blog, If you are looking for a coupon/deal blog that posts 15 times a day with the latest deals and freebies Simply Family Savings will not be for you. There are many local bloggers who do a phenomenal job, and I am more than happy to refer you to them for full sets of store match ups. I have realized I could burn out completely on blogging by muddling through every week, or I could make my main focus at Simply Family Savings what I love and excites me, and hopefully breathe a breath of fresh air into Simply Family Savings.
Change is hard. I know many of you followed me, from a forum to my first blog, and now here. And I really do not want to lose you, you are like extended family. Couponing is still a part of who I am, but it is only one part. I still want to help you get the best for your family within your means. You can now expect menu ideas based on store sales, my favorite friend and family tested recipes, that are frugal, use everyday ingredients and do not require a master’s degree in culinary arts. I am looking forward to giving my blog a more personal feel, I will begin posting more real life stories and happenings. Any coupons and deals will only be posted on Thursday possibly also Friday, no worries the ad scan made the cut, I still love and look forward to sharing that with you! Change is hard, but it is also good. I hope you will stay with me for this new chapter, I think it will be fun!

I’m super excited that you’ll be doing meal plans based on current sales! I totally need that! There really are so many local matchup sites that are all different and valuable in their own right, so I don’t think discontinuing that here is a huge loss. Blogging about what you’re passionate about should be #1!
First and foremost thank-you for everything you do! I have come to rely on your site for not just the Tops ad but the Menu Matchups as well. I think you will do a phenominal job with the new direction. I love all the recipes you post! I am a bad, bad, bad, bad cook. LOL or at least outside of the norm, and I look forward to including your site in my own path on learning more about cooking and food storage.
Good luck and I can’t wait to see the future of SFS!
I really like the menu match ups also
I love to shop but hate to cook, lol. I look at my pantry full of stuff and go blank. I don’t like searching for recipes. This is a wonderful addition to your site, that I plan to take advantage of. We all buy the same sale items, so it is very relevant to match the meal plan. Thank you for taking the time and sharing your meal plans.
Ida,
Thank you so much! I have found if I don’t put together some form of a plan at 3:45 pm. I am the one standing in front of the pantry slightly panicking about what to cook for dinner!
Thank you so much for your comment, I am excited, but I was worried that this would not go over well. Let me know what you think as we go along!
Jennifer
I Love your menu match ups I had always wished it would be a weekly thread so glad you have chosen to make these changes,
Thank you Jana, I have struggled with trying to balance my time, I have always felt I need to get “caught up on coupons and deals” first before I do any other posting, which is why it has not been a weekly post. But that is pretty ridiculous, because I am pretty sure the only way to get caught up is to hire help!
I am so glad you are excited about the changes!
Jennifer,
Thank you so much for your site. I became unemployed 3.5 years ago and it lasted about a year. During my “time off” I became interested in couponing. I have come to rely on your site especially for the Tops adds which you post on Thursdays. That heads up for the Sunday deals (gas points especially) has been a huge help in planning my Sunday trips to the store. Prior to finding your site, I relied on Tops to email me (usually Saturday) with the upcomming Sundays add. One thing everyone should keep in mind is the 10 gas points for a coupon at Tops. Each coupon is really worth an additional 30 cents in free gas and they add up quickly.
Thanks again—Bill
Thank you for the note Bill!
Coupons are amazing when you really think about what you can accomplish with them and a little time and effort. I am so glad the scan is helpful to you! It is really hard to plan a shopping trip the day before.
I am not turning my back on couponing, just not spending as much time typing about it. If you ever have any questions or comments please feel free to comment or email me, although I have a suspicion you are an excellent couponer
Thank you again,
Jennifer
